When should Acupuncture treatment begin?

The Benefits of Acupuncture treatments continue build upon the previous treatment and therefore the accumulated result is far better than the individual treatment. There is increased value to doing more treatments than less.

Patients are commonly treated for three to four months before progressing to insemination, in vitro fertilization (IVF), or donor-egg transfer. This progressive flow of treatments has a therapeutic effect. 

Clinical observations from the Berkley Center for Reproductive Wellness suggest that the most effective fertility treatments involve a combination of acupuncture, herbal medicine, and traditional medicine. Of-course, conception also can occur when Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine are used without Western Medical interventions.

How Acupuncture Enhances In-Vitro Fertilization

A recent study published in Fertility and Sterility, found that the use of Acupuncture with In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) achieved a 42% clinical pregnancy rate compared to 26% in a control group that did not receive acupuncture. This study was based on the woman receiving acupuncture for ONLY one day, shortly before and after the transfer of the embryos.

What Can Cause Infertility?

These causes can be determined by a Western medical reproductive work-up. Western medical methods for treating infertility are highly technical and expensive, and recent reports indicate a relatively low success rate.

Because of this, alternative methods, such as Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture are becoming quite popular.

In general, it is recommended to implement acupuncture and herbal medicine for at least 3-6 months before considering more high risk, invasive and expensive reproductive technologies. Starting with Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture as a primary step is strongly recommended and extremely successful.
